The biggest thing I have noticed since taking up a full-time position in a country school is the lack of access to high quality resources & trained people in the area of music. So any high quality resource like we find through Learning for Good, helps us as educators to get there and open opportunities to our students.
Although I have a wide range of experience in instrumental music, I have found the LFG platform fantastic as a resource to fill the gaps.
I had just started a unit on the LFG platform for instruments of the orchestra with stage 4 students. It was an outstanding experience to be able to facilitate the demonstration of an oboe and a bassoon without having to suffer through a poor-quality YouTube video with ads.
I live off grid in a small regional town and I've had to access the website on my phone iPad & Laptop. The LFG site is responsive and works well on different devices. I really like the use of Visual aids and images that enhance understanding of the content.
One of the big areas lacking now is student resilience. Music education helps students manage emotions and reduce stress, and playing in groups or ensembles fosters teamwork, discipline, and social interaction.
